Rimi Sultana, the home cook behind Smart Cooks, in her kitchen apron

Hi, I’m Rimi Sultana — the person behind Smart Cooks.

I’m a home cook from Bangladesh, and for the past five years I’ve cooked for my family nearly every single day. Somewhere along the way, trying new recipes stopped being a chore and became the hobby: the dishes my family asks for on repeat, and the ones I find on the internet and think, “can I actually make that in my kitchen?” This site is where I keep the answers.

What you’ll find here:

  • Recipes worth the counter space. From everyday comfort food to the odd internet-famous dish everyone’s suddenly searching for — like a steakhouse’s legendary whipped cream or a fried dough a celebrity family makes every Christmas. When a recipe here includes specific troubleshooting (why the cream won’t whip, why the fried dough came out dense), it’s because that’s the part that actually decides whether dinner works.
  • Kitchen gear comparisons, honestly labeled. Some posts on this site compare products. Where a comparison is based on research, specifications, and aggregated owner reviews rather than my own hands-on testing, the post says so at the top. Those posts may contain affiliate links — if you buy through them, Smart Cooks earns a small commission at no extra cost to you. That never changes what gets recommended.

What you won’t find here: padded introductions, or claims of expertise I don’t have. I’m not a professional chef — I’m the person cooking dinner tonight, same as you. For home recipes, I’ve come to believe that’s the more useful perspective.

A note on photos: We’re in the process of replacing older stock imagery across the site with better photos, starting with the most popular recipes. It’s slow, but it’s happening.

Get in touch: The fastest way to reach me is through the [contact page → /contact-us/ এ link]. If a recipe didn’t work for you, I genuinely want to know — those messages have fixed more than one post on this site.
